Electrical Safety – Threading Machine Cord Repairs

Hazard:

Electrical shock.

Metal clamps designed for use on romex (hard wire cable) cannot be used on spun/twisted wire. The clamp breaks the wires as it is tightened and cuts into the insulation as seen here on threader machines. The metal is also conductive which increases the chance of shock.

Corrective Action:

Use UL approved plug for repairing damaged cords.

When repairing damaged foot pedal cords install a
strain reliever as seen here. This device reduces wear
and damage to cord.
